The 28th Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival Comes to Mersin for the Second Time with the Support of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality
As one of the most prominent gatherings in women's cinema, the 28th Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival met with cinema lovers in Mersin for the second time, organized in collaboration with the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Film Office, the Flying Broom Foundation, the Women Journalists Association (KGD), and Kadından Haber (Women’s News).
Kicking off with a gala night held at the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Congress and Exhibition Center, the festival brought together directors, actors, and producers from the film industry in Mersin, hosting yet another major event that contributes to the development of cinema culture in the city. Within the scope of the gala, the films Sıradan Bir Gün (An Ordinary Day) and Tavuk Suyuna Çorba (Chicken Soup) were presented to the audience.
During the speeches delivered at the highly attended opening night, emphasis was placed on the role of cinema in social transformation, women's productions in film, and the importance of increasing the visibility of women's stories.
Following the speeches, the participating directors, actors, and producers were invited to the stage, where they expressed their delight at being in Mersin. Commemorative gifts were presented to the guests who contributed to the realization of the festival, and the gala program concluded with a musical performance.
The Festival Will Continue for Two Days with a Rich Program
As part of the festival taking place on December 20–21, film enthusiasts in Mersin will experience a lineup featuring: Black Box Diaries, Star on Border, Nevroz Ateşi (The Fire of Newroz), Mükemmel (Perfect), Domates Biber Depresyon (Tomato Pepper Depression), Haklı Mücadele (Just Cause), Başını Dik Tut (Keep Your Head Up), Kabuk (The Shell), Gukla, Gündüz Apollon Gece Athena (Apollo by Day, Athena by Night), Umurumda Değil (I Don't Care), Dank, Kıyametten Önceki Gün Kopmuştu (The Day Before the Apocalypse), Gülizar, Neredeyse Kesinlikle Yanlış (Almost Certainly Wrong), Dilan Hakkında Konuşmalıyız (We Need to Talk About Dilan), and Kurtlar (The Wolves).
Following the film screenings, Q&A sessions will bring directors and film crews together with the audience to share their production processes, stories, and cinematic approaches.
Coordinated by the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Film Office, the festival aims to introduce the works of female filmmakers to wider audiences, support cinema culture, and contribute to the cultural and artistic life of Mersin.
