Open-Air Cinema Nights Begin in Mersin
The Mersin Film Office (MFO), operating under the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Department of Culture, Arts and Social Affairs, has launched another initiative in line with its vision of making Mersin not only a leading film production destination but also a vibrant hub for film culture. Open-Air Cinema Nights, held every Wednesday throughout the summer under the slogan "Bring Your Chair and Join Us!", has officially welcomed its first audience.
The opening screening took place at Kültür Park, next to Panayır Café, featuring Bir Cumhuriyet Şarkısı (A Republic Song), directed by Yağız Alp Akaydın. Set against the beautiful Mediterranean coastline and beneath the shade of palm trees, the event attracted hundreds of cinema lovers, who gathered to enjoy the unique experience of open-air cinema.
In addition to supporting film productions, providing production coordination services, and fostering collaborations within the film industry, the Mersin Film Office continues to organize cultural initiatives that make cinema an integral part of urban life. Through the free screenings held as part of Open-Air Cinema Nights, residents and visitors alike have the opportunity to enjoy acclaimed films in an open-air setting while coming together in a welcoming cultural and social atmosphere.
Every Wednesday evening throughout the summer, film enthusiasts are invited to enjoy free screenings at Kültür Park, next to Panayır Café, and experience the magic of cinema under the stars on the Mediterranean coast.

- 29 July 2026 – Niko: Beyond the Northern Lights
- 12 August 2026 – The Butterfly's Dream
- 19 August 2026 – Up
- 26 August 2026 – The Government Woman (Hükümet Kadın)
Open-Air Cinema Nights will continue throughout the summer with free weekly screenings every Wednesday at Kültür Park, next to Panayır Café, bringing the joy of open-air cinema to the people of Mersin. Organized by the Mersin Film Office, the programme aims to promote film culture and enrich the city's cultural and artistic life.
