Mersin Sinema Ofisi, Avrupa’nın Prestijli Film Buluşmasında Mersin’i Dünyaya Tanıtacak
Mersin Film Office to Showcase City to the World at Europe’s Prestigious Film Event
Operating under the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, the Mersin Film Office (MFO)—the only film office in Türkiye affiliated with the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN)—continues to elevate Mersin's international profile. MFO will participate in the Shooting Locations Marketplace 2026 in Valladolid, Spain, on October 14–15, 2026, positioning the city on the global film industry stage.
At the event, MFO will highlight Mersin’s rich natural, historical, and cultural heritage, alongside its comprehensive support services for production crews. The city will be presented as a versatile production hub offering diverse filming environments within short travel distances—from Mediterranean coastlines and the Taurus Mountains to ancient ruins, historic streets, and modern urban landscapes.
Cinema Culture as a Catalyst for Mersin’s Promotion
As Mersin Metropolitan Municipality expands its promotional initiatives across various sectors, MFO is positioning the film industry at the center of these efforts. By offering location scouting, permit processing, institutional coordination, logistics, and on-site support, MFO enables production teams to work seamlessly, establishing Mersin as a preferred filming destination for both national and international projects.
The upcoming event in Valladolid reflects the international reach of these efforts. Through MFO’s delegation, Mersin will be showcased to global production professionals not only as a prime filming location, but also as a premier tourism destination defined by its Mediterranean identity and rich heritage.
MFO Builds on Its International Success
The international visibility of MFO has been further bolstered by the success of its first supported feature film, Like a Limbless Tree. Directed by Tunç Davut, the film was selected as Türkiye’s official candidate for Best International Feature Film at the 99th Academy Awards. Shot in Tarsus between May 9 and June 12, 2024, the production benefited from MFO’s extensive logistical, permitting, and operational support.
MFO’s exclusive status as Türkiye's representative in the EUFCN reinforces Mersin’s position within the global film network. Through the Valladolid marketplace, Mersin aims to showcase its filming infrastructure, tailored services, and tourism potential to international producers—continuing the Metropolitan Municipality’s vision of promoting the city from cinema to tourism.
